Description
These gloves have a waterproof membrane: a very thin polymer layer placed between the lining and the outer part of the glove, forming a barrier against water. On the outside they have a water-repellent treatment: water beads off the fabric instead of soaking in, so the glove stays light and warm.
They are also windproof. Wind increases how cold you feel: at 0 °C with a 20 km/h wind, it feels like -10 °C. Their windproof components reduce that chill, whether from the wind or from the speed of the activity.
To keep the water-repellent treatment effective, renew it every 2 or 3 washes with a dedicated product. In extremely wet conditions, any membrane glove has limited waterproofing.
